What is Restylane Silk?
The Restylane product line of injectables are clear gel hyaluronic acid formulations designed to act just like the fillersyour body produces naturally. The various types of Restylane can add fullness and volume to various problem spots in the skin where you’ve got lines, folds, wrinkles, hollows, or simply less volume than you want.
As you age, your lips, and skin around the mouth, begin to thin and lose their volume and youthful shape. Restylane Silk is the first FDA approved lip filler designed to help restore the natural shape and volume of the lip. It is also used to help smooth out the perioral lines (smoker’s lines). Silk is different from regular Restylane in that is contains smaller, finer particles that define its softness. This allows the doctor to use an extremely fine needle for precise injections and excellent artistry.
How Does Restylane Differ from Other Lip Fillers?
Botox, Juvéderm, Restylane—how can you know which injectables are right for you? Here are some of the main differences between Restylane and other facial fillers. Restylane, like Juvéderm, is a soft tissue filler. Both contain volume-adding hyaluronic acid, and are therefore true fillers. Botox, in contrast, is an injectable, but doesn’t work by adding volume; instead, it “freezes” the facial muscles so they can’t contract. For the deeper folds and creases, and to add volume, fillers are still better.
The difference between Juvéderm and Restylane is their texture, and in fact texture is the way that Restylane Silk hyaluronic lip injections are unique. Juvéderm is smooth and soft and disperses easily once injected. Regular Restylane is thicker and more cohesive inside the body, allowing for more sculpting action. Restylane Silk is a softer, more precise formation specifically for the lips. It can give you all of the silkiness of Juvéderm with the shapability of Restylane.
All varieties of Restylane and Juvéderm can cause minor side effects that are temporary, such as redness from the injections, and mild swelling and bruising. Both Juvéderm and Restylane treatments last 9 to 12 months, but in terms of how long Restylane Silk treatments last, that period of time can stretch even longer.
What Other Applications Does Restylane Have?
Restylane is known for the best lip injections, but it has other applications, too:
• Restylane can fill in laugh lines
• Restylane can add volume to hollow cheeks
• Restylane can erase wrinkles and deep furrows by adding fresh plumpness and volume
• Restylane can eliminate frown lines
And much more.
