What are Scars?

Scars can be unsightly, embarrassing and a source of emotional pain for those who bare them. This can be especially true when scars are large or in an area that is difficult to conceal.

However, scars are a normal result of the healing process. The disfiguring mark of a scar forms when your skin is damaged. Injury to your skin will trigger your body to produce new collagen fibers to repair the wound, and a scar will be formed. If your skin has ever experienced trauma from acne, surgery, disease, or a scrape or a cut, it is likely you have the scars to show for it.

How Are Scars Treated?

Scar tissue is notably different from the surrounding undamaged tissue and will have a contrasting color and texture. Scars can appear as thick red to purple raised tissue that becomes flatter and lighter as time passes.

In order to effectively treat your scars, we must diagnose the type of scars you have to achieve the best results. Different types of scars include keloid, contracture, hypertrophic, and acne scars.

If you have thick, elevated scars, they can be flattened by dermabrasion. If you have depressed or pitted scars, they can be filled with dermal filler injections. Acne and surgical scars respond well to laser treatments which can significantly diminish scars and possibly erase them depending on their severity.

The Halo Difference

Our Halo laser scar removal offers a non-invasive solution that uses hybrid fractional laser technology to deliver rapid, reliable scar reduction. We use pulses of laser light to condense scar tissue and to activate the formation of healthy new tissue. The Halo hybrid fractional laser is the first of it’s kind. It synchronously delivers non-ablative and ablative wavelengths in a single pass over your skin.

Energy is focused on the deeper collagen layer of your skin leaving the surface of your skin alone which expedites the healing process and minimizes risk of infection. You will get the best aesthetic results of an ablative procedure with the minimal downtime, of a non-ablative treatment: the best of both worlds!

Our HALO hybrid fractional laser is currently the most advanced scar removal laser available in the greater Sacramento, CA area. If you are looking to non-invasively diminish the appearance of scars, we invite you to Elk Grove Medical Spa for your complimentary consultation to determine the type of scars you have and the optimal treatment for your scars.
