As we age, skin sagging occurs on your face; typically in the jowls, cheeks and neck. Until recently, the only solutions were cosmetic injectables, laser skin resurfacing, and traditional facelift surgery. Cosmetic injectables can help reduce wrinkles and restore volume to specific areas on your face, but they don’t address the extra skin. Laser skin resurfacing can also reduce wrinkles and promote collagen-building efforts by your body; though it also cannot address the extra skin on your face. Once a certain degree of loose skin is present, only a scalpel can absolutely remove it. Traditional facelift procedures— which can involve significant downtime and risks— are not an option for all patients. In addition to the health risks, some patients are rightfully worried about having that dreaded windblown look from the skin being pulled too tight. At Precision MD, we give our patients the option of having a Non-Surgical Facelift using PDO Threads.
What Are PDO Threads and How Do They Work?
PDO Threads are made of Poydioxanone (PDO) and come in many styles and sizes. Dr. Cuber, a Board Certified Cosmetic Surgeon, will help you determine what is best for you. Then he will make sure you are comfortable, your skin is numb, and he will insert them into the deeper layers of skin on your face. By doing so, it has the effect of pulling the skin back slightly, lifting, tightening, and contracting the fat tissues on your face; this improves your skin’s elasticity and skin texture while helping to eliminate fine lines. For months after the PDO threads are introduced, your body continues cellular renewal through collagen stimulation. Finally, between six and eight months after the procedure, the PDO threads will be fully absorbed into your body and disappear.
What Areas Can Be Treated with PDO Threads?
PDO Thread Facelifts can be customized to the needs of each individual patient at Precision MD. Practically all areas of the face including:
- Eyebrows
- Under Eye Area
- Crow’s Feet
- Cheeks

What Are The Advantages of a PDO Thread Facelift Versus a Traditional Facelift?
For almost all of our patients at Elk Grove’s Premier Cosmetic Surgery Center, the most important factor for choosing PDO Thread Facelift versus a traditional surgical facelift is the greatly reduced recovery time. During traditional facelift surgery, a patient must be heavily sedated requiring someone to drive them home from the procedure and provide aftercare for at least 48 hours after they have surgery. Traditional surgical facelift patients often need to take one to two weeks off of work in order to heal.
PDO Thread Facelift Recovery is easy in comparison. Thread lifts can be performed under local— instead of general— anesthesia. That means the patient can drive themselves to and home from their procedure. Though some patients experience some redness, swelling and soreness, they often times only need one day off work instead of an entire week. That means PDO Thread Facelifts are a great option for people with demanding careers, children at home or active lifestyles.
